April 2023 Camping and Golden Skillet

On April 21-23, Troop 66 visited Camp Bullowa, in Stony Point, New York for a weekend

of tent camping. The weekend included our annual golden skillet cooking competition, Totin’

Chip training, and rifle shooting. Saturday morning began with every patrol making pancakes,

followed by a hike to the shooting range. The troop, scouts and adults were able to shoot .22

rifles. After the rifle shooting, the patrols had lunch and knife and ax safety were taught to our

younger scouts. After training each patrol was required to make a dinner and be judged on

presentation and taste. The winner was not announced until Sunday morning. After a quick

cleanup it was announced that the eagle patrol had won with their pho with spring rolls.
